Day 2 – Central African Feminists’ Forum
The Day 2 took off with similar, continued momentum and high enthusiasm as participants convened for a full day of exchange learnings and sharing as the day’s conversation would inform preparations for the recommendations to be presented to the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family at the closing plenary come October 18th.

The day had representatives from all CEMAC countries present at the forum share updates on the state of implementation of the Beijing Declaration in their different countries, underscoring major challenges faced impeding the effective implementation of the declaration such as, lengthy bureaucracies, limited finances to the different ministries responsible for women empowerment, weak mandates and lack of fervid cross departmental linkages within governments and the different machineries to promote the advancement of women.
Pursuant to the different presentations, a review of the 12 critical areas of the Beijing Declaration followed, as this aimed at enlightening all participants on and about the journey so far, and the resolutions taken in Beijing at the Fourth Women’s Conference.

The day’s exchange by the different countries representatives informed participants on the way forward as the meeting broke out into different working groups to review the 12 critical areas of the Beijing Declaration.
The different working groups returned for presentations, after a series of deliberation on the thematic (12 critical areas of the Beijing Declaration). These group presentations helped participants understand the different critical areas of the Beijing Declaration, and the challenges and opportunities in the implementation of the Declaration in the different CEMAC/Central African countries.
